![]() ![]() If you want the best quality Ghibli films then just get the Blu-rays. For these films, tell me, what sort of benefit would 3840x2160 resolution offer to the outstanding Blu-ray releases? What noticeable difference would there be in picture quality? I see no reason to put these films on the format other than for the gimmick of the label, films like Spirited Away were only finished at 2K anyway! It is completely pointless. Studio Ghibli finished releasing their catalogue of films on Blu-ray in 2015 in the Japanese market, and the Blu-ray releases have been rather exceptional when it comes to audio and visual quality, offering superior quality and transfers of their films than what had been presented on previous standard definition video releases. ![]() It has only just started as a format, and not every release has been that much of an improvement from the 1080p Blu-ray, in resolution, at least. Heck, Walt Disney Studios is only releasing its first UHD Blu-ray in august with GotG Vol.2. ![]() So called "4K" (it's really not actual 4K though, it's "UltraHD") only emerged on Blu-ray format last year and only a select few movies (in comparison to how many movies exist) have been released on it, many simply just 2K upscales or HDR colour grades.
